Saeima committee approves in principle resuming indexing of pensions of up to LVL 200 in 2013

Print versionToday, the Saeima Social and Employment Affairs Committee approved in principle resuming pension indexing by applying a coefficient of 1.04 for pensions under LVL 200 a month as of September 1, 2013, informs LETA.

The committee will urge the parliament to grant the motion the status of an urgent bill and review it in two readings.
Tomorrow, Saeima will review the motion in the first reading. The final reading is expected on July 9.
As a result of pension indexing, 84.7% of retired people will have their pensions increased, Welfare Ministry's Parliamentary Secretary Arvils Aseradens (Unity) told the Saeima Social and Employment Affairs Committee last week.
Residents who are paid old-age pensions of up to LVL 200 a month will have their pensions raised by LVL 5.58 on the average. Service pensions will increase LVL 3.43 on the average, whereas invalidity and survivor's pensions will increase LVL 3.79 on the average.
