Andris Ravins in again as mayor of Jelgava

Print versionLongtime mayor of the city of Jelgava, Andris Ravins (Greens/Farmers Union), was voted in again by the new city council yesterday, informs LETA.

In favor of Ravins were 13 councilmen, two opposition members from the Alliance of Regions party were opposed.
The council then decided to form another position – a second deputy mayor to be in charge of social issues. It subsequently voted in Ravins' fellow party member, Rita Vectirane.
Re-elected as first deputy mayor (in charge of education, culture and sports) was Aigars Rublis (Unity).
