Criminal proceeds of 1.9 mln euros worth confiscated by Estonian authorities in 2012

An analysis by the Estonian justice ministry indicates that criminal proceeds worth 1.9 million euros was confiscated in 2012, over a half of it in proceedings connected to narcotic substances, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

While in 2011, property was confiscated in 128 proceedings, last year the number grew to 159.

 

52% of the confiscated criminal proceeds were connected to narcotics crimes. The share of corruption and economic crimes was over a tenth and for a third of cases, property with value of at least 6,400 EUR was confiscated.

 

The really existing property formed 1.7 million out of the 1.9 million euros, the rest was claims submitted against criminals in the value of confiscated property.

 

The confiscated property included real estate, cars, jewelry mobile phones, tools, computers but also money and other property rights.
