In 4 years time while the Sunset Commission, aiming at eliminating unnecessary bureaucracies and cutting down the number of regulatory authorities, was in operation, a total of 166 institutions were eliminated and LTL 700 million (EUR 203 million) were saved on wages and salaries, while the number of public servants was reduced by over a tenth.

Such results were presented Wednesday in the Commission's report to the Government, informs LETA/ELTA.

According to Jurgita Siugzdiniene, head of the Commission and acting chancellor of the prime minister, the key aim of the Commission are systemic reforms that would bring long-term effect, prevent wasteful use of funds and the increase of public servants and institutions.

"Therefore, we expect that the work carried out and results of this Commission will become a great basis for the new government to continue improving state management," she said
