Latvian Justice Ministry: Jewish restitution issue should be resolved in Saeima

Print versionThe Jewish restitution issue should be resolved through political discussion in Saeima and therefore should be removed from the Justice Ministry's agenda, Justice Minister Janis Bordans' (VL-TB/LNNK) press secretary Liga Adamsone told LETA, commenting the Justice Ministry's stance in this regard.

Adamsone emphasized that Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis (Unity) and coalition partners have confirmed that the return of Jewish organizations' pre-war property to the Jewish community should be solved in the parliament and there is no reason for Bordans to continue discussing it.
She pointed out that every piece of Jewish religious organizations' property, listed and available to Justice Ministry, was returned by 2009.
