Riga Court upholds Court of England ruling on freezing Lembergs' assets

Print versionRiga Regional Court today upheld the Court of England ruling, issued in 2011, on freezing the assets of Ventspils Mayor Aivars Lembergs in the amount of USD 135 million (LVL 66.69 million).

The Riga Regional Court has also issued a precise list of properties to which the ruling of the Court of England applies, attorney Ugis Grube, representing several plaintiffs, told LETA. The Regional Court's decision may be appealed to the Supreme Court Senate.
As reported, the Riga Vidzeme District Court a year ago recognized the Court of England decision to freeze assets of Lembergs in the value of USD 135 million.
