Lithuania's Krusna appointed EU prosecutor for 3-year term

Tomas Krusna, the head of the Criminal Prosecution Department at the Lithuanian Prosecutor General's Office, has been appointed for a three-year term as a prosecutor of the newly-established European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO), writes LETA/BNS.

The European Council's decision to approve Krusna as one of 22 European prosecutors took effect on Wednesday, the Lithuanian Prosecutor General's Office said in a press release. 

The Council selected him from three candidates proposed by the Lithuanian Justice Ministry. 

The EPPO will investigate and prosecute fraud and other offences affecting the EU's financial interests. The Luxembourg-based body is planned to start operating at the end of this year, according to the press release.
