Estonia has granted international protection to close to 550 people from 1997, close to one-third of whom received protection as part of the EU migration plans, informs LETA/BNS.
From 1997, international protection has been granted by Estonia to 544 people, Ruth Annus, head of the department for citizenship and migration policy at the Ministry of the Interior, told BNS. 200 of them received international protection as part of the migration programs of the European Union.
On the basis of the EU migration plan, the European Commission's 2017 proposal and the government's decision of Dec. 14, 2017, Estonia received altogether 213 people in 2015-2017.
Of these people, 66 were resettled to Estonia from Turkey, 141 from Greece and six from Italy.
