In a criminal case on possible violations at Rigas Namu Parvaldnieks (RNP) municipal housing management company, businessman Kristaps Zarans has been arrested, according to the information obtained by LETA.

Zarans and two other persons were detained last week, but Zarans was the only one arrested.

According to unofficial information obtained by LETA and the Latvian public television, other two detainees are RNP interim board member Ardis Pavilsons and former board chairman Aivars Gontarevs.

According to Firmas.lv, Zarans several years ago was a board member in companies operating in property management, CS Apkope and Jurmalas Namsaimnieks and others.

As reported, the Economic Crime Unit earlier released five RNP employees that were detained in the case. Last week the police detained another two persons, including Liftu Alianse owner Igors Babkins, who is remanded in custody, while the other person has been released on his own recognizance.

The State Police on January 30 night raided the RNP head office at 42 Caka Street, Riga.

Latvian Television reported that the searches at the RNP head office could be connected to a company that has been awarded the contract to service elevators in apartment houses managed by RNP.
