The Audit Office is important part of the parliamentary control system to inform society about government spending results.

"The State Audit Office of the Republic of Latvia has been for a long period of time supporting the audit institutions of Georgia and Moldova, proving that it offers important support for the Eastern Partnership countries that are going through a period of change," said Vejonis.

The Audit Office of Latvia has, in a comparatively short span of time, evolved from a post-soviet inspectorate to a modern institution that is working in accordance with international audit requirements. "That is why we can offer valuable advice in management of the transition process, and we are ready to share our country's experience," said Vejonis.

He also emphasized Latvian Audit Office's progress with efficiency audits and the quality of audits. The Audit Office's findings are very important for all government agencies and institutions in improving and developing their operations.
