BC, Vilnius, 17.08.2017.Print version
The background image the Gate of Dawn in Vilnius is losing popularity as a possible choice for the design of new Polish passports, according to the latest results of online voting, informs LETA/BNS.
With 63,681 votes, the Gate of Dawn on August 17th was at number eight
among 13 graphic images proposed by Poland's Interior Ministry, down from
number two a couple of weeks ago.
Six images will be shortlisted in the vote that runs through Sept. 10.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry earlier this month summoned a Polish
diplomat to demand an explanation over the inclusion of the Gate of Dawn as a
choice.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas
Linkevicius has said that Polish passports should not feature images of the
Gate of Dawn and Viktoras Pranckietis,
the speaker of the Seimas, has expressed his hope that Warsaw will not spoil
relations with Vilnius because of the passport design.
