Three Lithuanian bitcoin traders conceal EUR 0.4 mln in income

BC, Vilnius, 23.05.2017.Print version
Three Lithuanian bitcoin traders have concealed 380,000 euros in income and failed to pay 32,000 euros in taxes, the State Tax Inspectorate, or VMI, said LETA/BNS.

The individuals traded in the virtual currency on international trading platforms between 2013 and 2015, the tax authority said.

VMI spokesman Darius Buta told that the traders had been detected in cooperation with the Finnish tax administrator.

"Finland gave that information to us and we can see from it that they (the traders) did not use Lithuanian cards. However, cooperation between tax administrators produces good results and helps prevent such actions," he said.

VMI in late 2016 set up a unit to control taxpayers in cyberspace.
