Investigation movie “Attempt on the State” is now available on the internet

A movie,
produced in 2015 upon the book by Latvian human rights activist and
businesswoman Inara Vilkaste
“Attempt on the State. Inconvenient Vashkevich” was critically acclaimed by
European and American society. The movie was shot upon the documental evidences
and testimonies of eyewitnesses it is a narrative of criminal-political
persecution organized by Latvian intelligence services, victims of which for
the last 12 years are members of family of former director of Customs Criminal
Board and deputy director of State Revenue Services Vladimir Vashkevich and businesswoman Inara Vilkaste. Through all
these years the family was standing against threats, terrorist acts,
explosions, arsons, blackmailing, attempted kidnapping of daughter,
disappearance without trace of family lawyer and so on. Psychological pressure
and threats of physical altercation are being received even today. More
specifically, Vladimir Vashkevich was severely beaten by the officials of intelligence
services during his illegal arrest, which resulted in severe bodily injuries.

much appreciated by human right activists and by representatives of world movie
industry. During the previous year movie was multiple times awarded at several
prestigious international film festivals in Europe and USA - The Indie
Gathering International Film Festival (USA), TMC London Film Festival and
The International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema LONDON (both Great
Britain), National Arts festivals Orzeł 2016 (Poland). Deputies of European
Parliament was also provided with the opportunity to see the movie – special
screening in
