Tallinn to ban smoking on public beaches

The council of Tallinn on February 25th approved new regulations for the use and maintenance of beaches, which ban smoking on the beaches of the Estonian capital, among other things, reports LETA/BNS.

In addition, the new regulations require that the sand of beaches must be sifted once before the start of the season and at least once every month throughout the season, and algae removed from the waterfront and the sand by 9 a.m. every day during the season.

 

Supervision over abidance by the regulations concerning beaches will be a task of the municipal police.

 

The beaches in the territory of the City of Tallinn are the Lake Harku and Kakumae beaches in the borough of Haabersti, Pirita beach in Pirita, and the Stroomi and Pikakari beaches in the borough of North Tallinn.
