Estonia has failed to collect more than 422 mln kroons of expired fines

As of now, March 25, Estonian State has not been able to collect more than 220,400 fines in the total amount of 422.3 million kroons, writes EPL Online/LETA.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the average amount involved in the fine claim is 1,915 kroons.

 

Six months ago, the Supreme Court ruled that the limitation period for fines is 18 months, but many individuals do not know that after that period, a person has to turn to the court by themselves in order to request a termination of the execution proceedings.
