The Estonian volunteer corps Kaitseliit (Defense League) has a budget of 58 million euros this year, 34 million of which come from the state budget and for 15 million euros the organization will buy special equipment, reports LETA.

This year a total of 33,736,715 euros have been allocated from the state budget for the Defense League, which is about 3.1% or 1.02 million euros more than last year, spokesman for the Defense League Maj. Tanel Rutman told BNS.

In addition to the sum being allocated from the state budget, the organization has 4.2 million euros from last year and the income from business activities, donations, support and membership fees is around 0.5 million euros. Besides, the Defense League has a reserve of 4.6 million euros.

"So the Defense League as a whole has about 43 million euros that can be used in 2016," Rutman said.

The organization can also use an additional 15 million euros for buying equipment, half of which would be used to buy ammunition. This means that the Defense League can spend up to 58 million euros in 2016, he said.

The 2016 budget and audit plan of the Defense League were unanimously approved on Sunday.
