Riga City Council's Executive Director Juris Radzevics, following the Security Police's instructions, issued a decree on January 5 ordering Riga City Council employees and councilmen to hand in full information about their trips to Russia, Belarus, other CIS countries and China planned for this year, as well as their past official and unofficial visits to these countries, LETA found out this morning.

Riga City Council employees and councilmen must send their reports to the Riga City Council's Secretariat by e-mail until January 15, which will then forward them to the Security Police.

Heads of the Riga City Council's administrative institutions have also been told to provide information about official and unofficial contacts between Riga City Council officials, employees and diplomats and embassy employees representing the said countries.

The decree also stipulates that those Riga City Council officials and employees who have access to classified information will now have to report their private trips to Russia, Belarus, other CIS countries and Chine within two weeks after they return to Riga.
