Donations to Estonian Centre Party fell drastically in Q3

While the governing Estonian party, the Reform Party received 50,169 euros as donations in the third quarter, and the Social Democratic Party received 51,381 euros, the biggest opposition party, the Centre Party succeeded in collecting donations of 13,634 euros, of which as many as three-quarters or more than 10,000 euros came from wallets of Tallinn city officials, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

In the first half of the year, when the parliamentary elections took place, the Centre Party received dozens of donations reaching thousand euros a time. The highest amounts were donated to the party by businessman Urmas Sõõrumaa, who gave the party 60,000 in the first quarter and a further 25,000 euros in the second quarter. In the third quarter, however, the greatest donation was made by the deputy mayor of Tallinn Merike Martinson, 624 euros. The party also received 361,738 euros from the state budget and 14,431 euros from membership fees.

 

The Reform Party collected 50,169 euros as donations, 401,932 euros as state budget support and 651 euros from membership fees in the second quarter. The biggest donation was made by businessman Hillar Teder, who gave the Reform Party 30,000 euros. While in the first and second quarter, the biggest donations cam from businessman Urmas Sõõrumaa – 170,000 euros altogether, in the third quarter Sõõrumaa did not support the party.

 

Junior coalition member Social Democratic Party received in the third quarter 51,381 euros of donations. The party also collected 3,836 euros of membership fees and 200,966 euros of state budget support. Businessman Hillar Teder made the biggest donation, 15,000 euros.

 

The other three parliament parties, the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union, the Free Party and the Conservative People's Party had not yet submitted their third quarter financing reports to the Party Financing Supervision Committee by Monday evening.
