Estonian MFA: Kohver's trial has been unlawful from very beginning

Print versionMinister of Foreign Affairs Marina Kaljurand stated that the kidnapping of Security Police Officer Eston Kohver from Estonia's territory has constituted a gross violation of international law, and the entire process in Russia has been unlawful from the very beginning, writes LETA/Postimees Online.

“The developments in Eston Kohver's trial will not affect the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, nor of any other Estonian authorities: together with our partners and allies we continue demanding that Eston Kohver be immediately released, and we will work until he is back at home,” said the Minister in a statement to Postimees.
Press Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the ministry have received information through official channels that the court ruling will be announced on August 19. The prosecution calls for Kohver 16 years in prison.
