The Finance Police have opened a criminal case and classified as a suspect in a tax evasion scheme dating back to 2010, Saeima deputy from the Harmony party – Regina Locmele-Lunova.

The Saeima Mandate Committee told LETA that it has not received from the authorities any order for Locmele-Lunova to be handed over for prosecution.

Locmele-Lunova herself, in a statement, says that this is a matter of "vengeance for her active political and community work."

On April 23, it became known that a criminal case was submitted to the Prosecutor's Office, where its status is replaced from the witness to the suspect. "We are talking about the case, which was five years ago, and during those five years I transferred for the investigation all the necessary documents. The investigator had no issues", – said Locmele-Luneva in a statement.

"I believe I must formally declare the party members, Saeima colleagues and the voters that all charges brought against me is the lie and I am ready to prove it in the Prosecutor's Office and in any court", – said Locmele-Lunova.

The MP has already complained to the Prosecutor's General's Office.
