Vjaceslavs Dombrovskis drops out of politics in Latvia

Print versionSaeima MP Vjaceslavs Dombrovskis, both a former minister of education and minister of economy, announced yesterday that he is exiting the political arena – as of April 23, 2015, informs LETA.

"Tomorrow (April 23rd) is my last day. I return to academics," Dombrovskis declared.
Although not officially a member of
Unity, he was elected to parliament on the party's ticket. After the elections, he did not pass in the Saeima, but received parliamentary mandate instead of Janis Reirs, who was
appointed a Minister of Finance.
Before entering politics, Dombrovskis
was a researcher of the Baltic International Centre for Economic
Policy and associate professor
at the Riga Graduate School of Economics.
