"OECD membership is currently a top priority for Lithuania. I am pleased that our Australian colleagues have favourably evaluated Lithuania's efforts and programmes it implements seeking for an invitation to begin OECD accession process," said the Lithuanian foreign minister.

Linkevicius thanked Australia for constructive cooperation in the United Nations Security Council in 2014.

"Relations between Lithuania and Australia are based on common values: democracy, respect for human rights and active participation in the international arena. The relations are enhanced by a large and active Lithuanian community in Australia," the minister said.
