Four more suspects in Zolitude disaster case
The last three suspects in the case are employees at the Riga Construction Board – they have been accused of gross negligence, and an employee of a company involved in the Maxima supermarket construction project who has been accused of violating job safety regulations.
Therefore there are nine suspects in the case currently.
As reported, three private persons – construction inspection expert Andris Gulbis, civil engineer Ivars Sergets, and the designer of the "Maxima" project, architect Andris Kalinka – have the status of suspect in the case, as well as construction company Re&Re construction operations manager Stanislavs Kumpins and construction supervisor Martins Draudins.
Furthermore, five legal entities also have the status of a suspect in the case, including two – architectural firm Kubs and the planning and design firm HND Grupa, which belongs to Sergets – that had their property arrested by the police.
54 people died and scores were injured when the roof of the Maxima supermarket in Riga's Zolitude neighborhood caved in on November 21, 2013.
