BC, Tallinn, 12.01.2015.Print version
As of Monday, January 12, 2015, all Estonian laws have been translated into English and are available on the English-language web page of Riigi Teataja (State Gazette), informs LETA.

Sworn translators translated in four years all the laws to the English language, at the guidance of the Ministry of Justice, to introduce the Estonian legal system in the world and ease professional and business interaction, Ministry of Justice spokeswoman Maria-Elisa Tuulik said.

However, Justice Ministry Riigi Teataja unit manager Jüri Heinla said that the translations have no legal force and cannot be used in official dealings in the state.

In the future, all the changes and new laws will be translated into English and the full texts of the laws are kept up to date.

Besides translations of laws, the Riigi Teataja web page also contains translations of decrees translated by ministries. Altogether translations of nearly 500 legal acts are available.
