Question: I have bought an inflatable motorized boat. Shall I register it with any registers and how much will it cost?

Answer: Pursuant to Cabinet regulation No 213 “Procedure for registration of watercrafts in the Road Traffic Safety Directorate”, a motor boat shall be registered with Road Traffic Safety Directorate (hereinafter – CSDD) in a mandatory manner, if the said boat is intended for trips with the use of the engine of power higher than 3,7kW (4 horsepower approx.) and the boat is more than 2,5 m long.

Owner of the motor boat is obliged to register the boat with CSDD within 5 days from the moment of purchase or delivery from a foreign country. Upon registration CSDD will assign a registration number and issue registration certificate to the owner as well as two stickers of the state registration number as prescribed by the relevant standards. The validity term of the registration certificate is unlimited.

For purposes of motor boat registration with CSDD one shall submit an application, as well as motor boat delivery and acceptance certificate received from the seller or manufacturer’s issued statement of origin for the boat. Prior to registration a state fee shall be paid in amount of 20 Ls.
