Krievins proposes liquidation of Inter-Ministerial Coordination Center
Krievins, formerly the head of the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Center, said that the functions currently performed by the center - preparing the government's action plan and monitoring implementation of the plan, supervising the prime minister office's work, and providing support in supervision of various councils chaired by prime minister. The State Chancellery will be able to do these jobs more effectively than the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Center, said Krievins.
After Latvia joins the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the government should decide whether the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Center is necessary at all. "There is no need to keep in a minor institution at the government if its functions can be performed by the State Chancellery," stressed Krievins.
