Bite invested EUR 11.8 mln in infrastructure development in 2016

Mobile phone operator Bite Latvija (Bite) invested EUR 11.8 mln last year in infrastructure development and improving client service, the company's head in Latvia Kaspars Buls told LETA.

He said that EUR 11.429 mln was diverted for the development to network and technological development, but EUR 371,000 for customer service development.


Buls added that this is just the firs stage in the company's multi-year investments program. ''We plan on investing at least EUR 20 mln in 2016 and 2017 for infrastructure development. These investments will allow us to gradually move toward the implementation of a 5G network,'' he said.


Last year, 80 4G+ base station were added, as well as 176 4G stations, of which 25 were completely new ones. With this, the Bite network in Latvia now has a total of 710 base stations, with another 90 expected to be set-up this year.


As reported, in 2016 Bite Latvija reported a profit of EUR 8.645 mln on a turnover of EUR 76.668 mln.


Bite Latvija was founded in 2005 and currently belongs to the Lithuanian company Bite Lietuva UAB.
