Latvia is open to investment from the USA

On Thursday, August 20, Latvian Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma held a meeting with the U.S. Congress Senators John McCain, Sheldon Whitehouse and John Barrasso, reports BC press secretary to the Prime Minister Aiva Rozenberga.

Discussing the Baltic region's security, Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma informed the U.S. Congress Senators that Latvia plans to increase its defence budget to 2 % of GDP by 2018.

 

Currently, the Latvian government discusses the state budget for 2016 and we keep this target in mind. We are strongly convinced about this budget priority," said L. Straujuma.

 

She also took the opportunity to remind in the conversation of Latvia’s openness to U.S. investment.
