Lithuanian PM, Katainen talk about importance of European Fund for Strategic Investments

In a meeting with the European Commission Vice-President for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness, Jyrki Katainen, Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius talked about Jean-Claude Juncker's EUR 315 billion investment plan for Europe, discussed the issues of the Eurozone stability, economic growth outlook in the European Union, and immigration issues, reports LETA/ELTA.

Speaking about Juncker's plan for Europe, under which the European Fund for Strategic Investments would be established, PM Butkevicius said that such fund is a very welcome initiative in order to strengthen the EU's economy.

 

"The initiative to set up the European Fund for Strategic Investments could have a positive impact on the economic growth and job creation in Europe. Lithuania is interested in implementing projects by using all opportunities offered by this fund," the Lithuanian PM said to Katainen.

 

According to Butkevicius, particular attention should be paid to the EU's energy projects.
