Mecislovas Zasciurinskas: Do you drink tea at work? Pay tribute then!

Member of the Seimas in Lithuania Mecislovas Zasciurinskas is indignant that the ruling – liberals and conservatives coalition – began the New Year 2010 with a new nonsense – taxation of the income in kind.

According to the politician, the inspectors themselves publicly acknowledge that the tax will be imposed on the income for the usage of state-owned car or telephone in accordance with hardly applicable and doubtful criteria; the control mechanisms have not been invented yet, yet, it is still being goofed around persistently, informs ELTA/LETA.

"I will not be surprised, if more new taxes will be imposed, for example, on the tea drank at work, because when drinking tea at work, you are using the water paid for by the employer. You can also impose tax on checking private email using work computers, because you are not paying for the electricity and the internet. You can invent a lot of things. Yet, it is more important to hire an additional army to administrate the fantasies of the ruling regime and air taxation," the Seimas member said ironically.

According to Zasciurinskas, the ambition to impose taxes on allegedly hidden income in kind is a typical case when people employed in the government receive salaries not for serious work, but for fantasies that are vain, damaging and state-discrediting.
