Klaipeda Seaport reached another cargo handling record in November

In November 2014, cargo handling turnover of Klaipeda Seaport has increased even by 27,9% – totally 3,3 mln tn (more by 722,6 thou. tn comparing with November of 2013) were handled, reports BC port’s press service.

It was the absolute cargo handling record achieved within the entire history of Klaipeda Seaport. The previous record was reached in 2010 – 3,1 mln tn.

 

In November of 2014 the top results were achieved in the handling turnover of fertilizers, oil products, containerised cargoes and grain handling:

 

- 952,1 thou. tn of fertilizers, i.e. more by 315,7 thou. tn or by 49,6% than in November of 2013 were handled (the record turnover result of fertilizers achieved in November);

- 710,8 thou. tn of oil products, i.e. +146,1% or +421,9 thou. tn (the best oil products’ handling result set per month in 2014 ) were transhiped;

- 496,7 thou. tn of containerised cargoes (+31,1% or +117,9 thou. tn than in November of 2013 ) were handled – it was the best handling result within the entire history of Klaipeda Seaport and the third result set in 2014;

- 418,6 thou. tn of grain were handled – it was the best grain handling result  within the entire history of Klaipeda Seaport (the year-on-year change was +28,82% or +93,7 thou. tn);

Within the period of January – November of the current year the turnover of Klaipeda Seaport has increased by 9,0% – totally 33,4 mln tn, i.e. more by 2,8 mln tn than during the corresponding period of the previous year were handled.

 

This means that the income of Lithuanian transport enterprises and companies operating via the Port increased approx. by 123 million litas this year and tax revenue contributed to the state budget more by 31 million litas comparing with the last year.

 

Basic cargo types that made the impact on successful cargo handling results in January – November of 2014 were the following:

 

- fertilizers – 11,1 mln tn were handled (+43,3% or +3,4 mln tn);

- containerised cargoes – 5,2 mln  tn were handled (+22,7% or  +954,5 thou. tn);

- grain – 2,6 mln tn were handled (+26,7% or +537,6 thou. tn)
