Industrial production in Latvia grew by 1.6% in October y-o-y

Latest data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau show that compared to September industrial production volume in October (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices) increased by 0.6%. Compared to October 2013, industrial production in October this year grew by 1.6%

Of which industrial production in manufacturing grew by 0.3%, and in electricity and gas supply – by 3.5%. In turn, a drop of 5.2% was registered in mining and quarrying.

Compared to October 2013, industrial production in October this year (according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices) grew by 1.6%; of which in manufacturing – by 1.5%, in electricity and gas supply – by 2.6%, whereas in mining and quarrying there was a decline of 1.1%.

 

The most notable growth in industrial production was recorded in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products – of 35.1%, in manufacture of machinery and equipment – of 22%, and in manufacture of electrical equipment – of 15%. Significant production increase was also observed in manufacture of wood and of products of wood – of 8.9%, and in manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment – of 7.3%.


In turn, the most notable drop of industrial production volume was observed in repair and installation of machinery and equipment (repair and maintenance of ships and boats, repair of fabricated metal products, machinery and equipment, installation of industrial machinery and equipment) – of 30%, in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – of 8.1%, and in manufacture of food products – of 0.1%.
