The famous Finnish bakery Fazer has begun constructing its new factory in Ogre, investing EUR 5 million in the project and introducing frozen bread products to export markets, Managing Director at Fazer Bakery Baltic, Mindaugas Snarskis informed LETA.

The new factory will be located next to the Fazer Latvija bakery and will be fully integrated in the company's infrastructure. The factory will focus on the production of frozen bread products. At first, the entire line will be exported.

The factory will be finished in spring 2015, and will start operating in fall of 2015.

Fazer will also expand its bakery by investing more than EUR 5 million in the company's development and creating about 40 new work places.

Snarskis said that the new factory marks a new business direction, and will consolidate the company's position in the Baltic market. "This is going to be a modern factory, which will ensure high quality products and opportunities to increase export. Another aim is to create a modern workplace. Fazer is the largest employer in Ogre, and, by improving the factory, we also wish to become the most attractive employer," Snarskis indicated.

Fazer Latvija turnover in 2013 was EUR 18.41 million. Fazer Latvija is one of the leaders in the bread market that operates under two brands – Fazer and "Druva". The company currently offers jobs to more than 250 people, and is the largest employer in Ogre.
