Number of vehicles on island ferry routes in Estonia posts a record in October

Print versionVäinamere Liinid, which operates ferry traffic on the Estonian mainland-Saaremaa island, mainland-Hiiumaa island and Saaremaa-Hiiumaa island routes, transported a record amount of vehicles in October 2014, over 68,200, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

On the Hiiumaa route, the number of vehicles grew by 15%, on the Saaremaa route by 4.8% and Saaremaa-Hiiumaa route 4.5%.
Väinamere Liinid manager Urmas Treiel said that if this October was compared to the top year before new ferryboats arrived, 2008, in six years the amount of vehicles transported on the Hiiumaa route has increased 37% and to Saaremaa 20%.
