Baltic ports' cargo turnover increases by 1.1% in 9 months

Cargo turnover at the Baltic countries' ports increased by 1.1% in the first nine months of 2014, amounting to 106.78 million tons, as compared to the respective period of 2013, according to information provided by portal "RZD Partner", cites LETA/Nozare.lv.

46.9% of all cargo was handled in Latvian ports, 26% – in Lithuania, 27.1% – in Estonia.

 

The amount of cargo handled in Latvia increased by 3.9% (amounting to 50.03 million tons), in Estonia – reduced by 0.3% (28.97 million tons), in Lithuania – reduced by 2.1% (to 27.77 million tons).

 

The Riga Port registered the highest increase in cargo turnover – 14% (amounting to 26.66 million tons), followed by the Klaipeda Port – 4% (23.26 million tons), and the Tallinn port – 0.2% (19.4 million tons).
