Swedbank Group – the most valuable enterprise in Baltics in 2014

The investment banking and financial advisory company Prudentia and stock exchange Nasdaq Riga presented a list of ten most valuable Baltic companies today, reports LETA.

Swedbank Group, with company value of EUR 3.2 billion, is the most valuable enterprise in the Baltic States, according to the report.

 

President Andris Berzins congratulated Swedbank Group during an award ceremony today. He said that Swedbank has gone through various stages and name changes in its development, but was always pursuing its ambitions. A lot of successful people began their careers at Swedbank, Berzins said, adding that he, too, once had a chance to learn from Swedbank and also to compete with it.

Berzins said that the Baltic dimension is becoming more prominent not only in business, but in other sectors as well.

 

The head of Swedbank in Latvia, Maris Mancinskis said that the award is a great honor. He stressed that the bank feels stable and continues to grow by finding new solutions for its clients and improving its services.


Further down on the list is Tallink Grupp with company value of EUR 1.85 billion, followed by SEB banka Group - with EUR 1.64 billion, Estonian energy company Eesti Energia – with EUR 1.41 billion, Latvian energy company Latvenergo – with EUR 1.3 billion, trade company Maxima Grupe – with EUR 976.4 million, Lithuanian energy company Lietuvos Energija – with EUR 944.5 million, Lithuanian railway company Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai - with EUR 891 million, oil product terminal operator Vopak E.O.S - with EUR 846.4 million, and Latvian State Forests – with EUR 801.3 million.


CEO of Prudentia Karlis Krastins said that the aim was to inform the Baltic States' society about the region's most significant enterprises. It is also a chance to assess Latvian enterprises against the backdrop of other Baltic companies.
