Estonian fisheries and coastal areas get 100 mln euros of EU support

The Estonian government approved on Thursday of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) funding 2014-2020 implementation plan, according to which, 129.6 million euros, including 100 million euros of European Union money, will be invested in the Estonian fisheries sphere and development of the coastal regions, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

100.9 million euros will come from EMFF and 28.6 million from the Estonian state budget.

 

"The biggest attention in the fisheries sector in the new period is paid to processing and marketing, for which we plan a total of 32.5 million euros. It is also important for easing the effects of the Russian sanctions," said Agriculture Minister Ivari Padar.

 

The implementation plan also channels 27.7 million euros for the development of coastal areas, 26.2 million euros for investments connected to fishing gear and environmental protection and 17.8 million euros to develop aquaculture.
