Lithuania signs agreement with European Space Agency

Minister of Economy Evaldas Gustas signed the European Co-operating State (ECS) Agreement with the European Space Agency (ESA) in Paris. ESA Director General Jean-Jacques Dordain signed the agreement on behalf of the organization, informs LETA/ELTA.

The agreement will provide opportunities for Lithuania's businesspersons and scientists to take part in the activities of the acknowledged top international science, technology and innovation network.

 

The minister of economy underscored at the signing ceremony that the Lithuanian Government devotes particular attention to space policy.

 

"The main goal of the Lithuanian space policy is constant strive for knowledge, economic growth and benefit of space technologies to the country. Today it is crucial that we are not on the sidelines when new space economy is developed. Tighter co-operation with the ESA is the cornerstone of our space policy," said Gustas.

 

Seeking to implement the agreement signed in Paris on 7 October, the Ministry of Energy is inviting business and science representatives to attend the European Space Agency seminar on 14 October.
