An agreement was reached on October 3rd on launching Turkmenistan-Latvia-Canada flights, which will be operated from the summer of 2015, the Riga International Airport informed the business portal Nozare.lv, cites LETA.

The parties to the agreement are the Transport Ministry, Riga International Airport, and Turkmenistan Airlines.

The agreement stipulates cooperation in the organization of flights on the new route so it could be launched already in the summer of 2015. Further information will be available after a contract is signed.

As reported, in collaboration with "Turkmenistan Airways", the Riga International Airport is considering launching flights on a new route – Ashgabat-Riga-Toronto, thus Riga airport would become a convenient hub for intercontinental flights, the Transport Ministry's Deputy State Secretary Uldis Reimanis said at an international transport and transit conference in Turkmenistan at the beginning of September.

Reimanis also drew attention to the advantages of the Riga International Airport – largest airport in the Baltic States that offers flights to 83 destinations in Europe and CIS countries, as well as direct flights to New York.
