Lithuania Post opens up opportunities for VGTU students

On September 19th, 2014, Lithuania Post, one of the biggest Lithuanian companies providing postal and logistic services, signed a cooperation agreement with the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU). On the grounds of cooperation, the students will have more opportunities to have a supervised practice and start a professional career with Lithuania Post, reported BC post’s press service.

“The role of businesses in the education of high qualification specialists is hugely important. The growing number of business partners is crucial for our aim to give our students as many opportunities to get acquainted with actual business situations as possible; also, the students can establish useful contacts and start their professional career in a short period. For business companies, the university is important when putting into practice achievements of applied sciences and new technologies,” Rector of the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University Alfonsas Daniunas said.

 

CEO of Lithuania Post Lina Minderiene has expressed her hopes that cooperation between education and business will open new opportunities not only for the students and community of the VGTU, but for Lithuania Post, too.

 

“Lithuania Post is one of the largest logistic companies in the country. In the future, we are planning to strengthen our positions in the areas of logistics and courier service; therefore, the company is in need of high qualification specialists. I hope that this cooperation will enable us to “raise” initiative and clever specialists from the spheres of business management, logistics, and transport who will put their university knowledge into practice at Lithuania Post,” Mrs Minderienė said.

 

Lithuania Post will cooperate with the faculties of Transport Engineering and Business Management. Lithuania Post will admit the students of the faculties for their supervised practice, will present topics for students’ papers from the postal sphere, participate in the oral defence of final papers related with the activities of the company, and will organize excursions in the company and etc. The graduates of the university will be offered by the company to start climbing their career ladder with Lithuania Post.  

 

In spring of the current year, Master’s degree students of from the faculty of Business Management of VGTU had a supervised practice at Lithuania Post. During their practice, the students wrote papers on the topics of e-commerce, electronic self-service, and postal activities.
