Latvia registers 4th largest increase in new car registrations in August

In August, new vehicle registrations in Latvia increased by 22.5% – the 4th largest increase in Europe, the latest report from European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) indicates, reports LETA.

The report includes data on all EU member states, excluding Malta. The report also presents data on the European Free Trade Association – Switzerland, Norway and Iceland.

 

In August, 921 new automobiles were registered in Latvia, compared to 752 in the respective period of 2013.

 

Vehicle registration decreased in 13 countries, 17 countries registered an increase.

 

The steepest increase among all the countries included in the report was recorded in Ireland – 31.7%, Portugal – 26%, Slovakia – 23.7%, Latvia, Czech Republic – 20.2%, Lithuania – 16.1%, and Iceland – 15.6%.

 

The largest vehicle registration decrease was registered in Netherlands – 9.1%, Austria – 8.4%, Switzerland – 5.8%, Croatia – 5%, and Belgium – 4.1%.

 

1,542 new cars were registered in Estonia, which is 0.6% less than in August, 2013, and 3rd smallest drop in Europe.

 

Meanwhile, 964 new automobiles were registered in Lithuania.

 

Altogether, 701,118 new automobiles were registered in the countries covered by the report, which is 1.8% more than in August 2013.
