New free public transportation journey planner app available in Latvia

BC, Riga, 15.09.2014.Print version
Since September 2014, one of the most popular journey planner apps in the emerging markets – TRAFI – is available in Latvia. This free tool provides an opportunity for a quicker and more comfortable journey through Riga, Jelgava and Liepaja by public transportation, by car or on foot – the map shows the best route for each of these modes of transportation, reported BC PR consultant and practitioner Rasa Salina.

The creators of the app highlight the search parameters as one of the main benefits of the application – TRAFI user is not required to know a precise address and/or name of the public transport stop, as the best route search option allows searching also by company names and other key words on the way to the selected destination.

This mobile app provides information about the real location of a vehicle in Liepaja, using information from GPS devices installed in trams etc.; moreover, it calculates the precise time of arrival at a certain destination. This makes the information in the app more reliable and precise as that presented in transportation schedules.

„Our product 100% is made for people who use public transport; we show the most ways how to get from point A to point B. For user convince we also have a news section, where people can report traffic jams, public transport delays and other relevant information – this way they help each other and are able to see the “actual public transport situation””, says Martynas Gudonavicius, TRAFI co-funder and CEO.

“We have a good reason to believe that this app will become popular in Latvia. This is based on our observations – for about half a year there was a BETA version working in Latvia and to date we have received positive feedback from our users. We will be very pleased, if this user-friendly and sophisticated tool will encourage Latvian people to use more public transportation and have better experiences – they will not get lost or wait in vain and thus be able to use their time in more meaningful way.”

TRAFI is available of Android and iOS (Apple) operating systems and it can downloaded for free in Google Play or App Store. Information is provided in Latvian and English.

Since September this mobile app is working also in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn.
