Sports Direct opens stores in Estonia

BC, Tallinn, 13.08.2014.Print version
The giant British sports goods seller Sports Direct will open its first store in Estonia at the Ülemiste shopping centre in Tallinn at the end of October 2014, where the Sportland store it owns is located too, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Sports Direct International has a 60% stake in Sportland International Group that has a chain of sporting goods stores in Estonia.

Ülemiste Centre director Guido Pärnits said that the two stores will not be competing with each other since Sportland is targeted at a completely different group of customers. While Sports Direct is known for its discount policy, Sportland stores are considerably pricier.

The Sports Direct store will cover 1,600 square meters in the Ülemiste Centre that is undergoing major expansion works at the moment.

Pärnits said that Sports Direct intends to open two stores in Tallinn altogether but it isn’t known yet where or when the second one would be opened.
