E-commerce increased Omniva’s turnover in H1

In the first six months of 2014, Estonian state-owned postal company Omniva’s (former name Eesti Post) business income increased by 8%, as compared to the same period last year; this growth in income was mainly the result of the growth of e-commerce and the company’s expansion in Latvia and Lithuania, informs LETA reffering to Postimees Online.

Omniva’s business income in the first six months of 2014 was 28.5 million euros; the concern's net profit was 214,000 euros.


The company's revenues grew primarily thanks to e-commerce solutions. Using parcel terminals increased most. In the first six months, the number of parcels sent via Omniva's parcel terminals grew as compared to the same period last year by 124%.


As the demand for parcel terminals is growing, Omniva started expanding the network and by the middle of August, the network grows by almost a quarter.


The amount of incoming international letter mail volume increased 46%. At the same time, domestic letter sending fell 17%.


In 2013, AS Eesti Post had a total revenue of 56 million euros and a net profit of 2.3 million euros.
