BC, Riga, 04.08.2014.Print version
Construction materials manufacturer Cemex increased its turnover by 2 percent in 2013 and earned a profit of EUR 4.9 million, informs NOZARE.LV/LETA reffering to the company's spokesman Maris Gruznins.

In 2012, Cemex had turned over EUR 85.35 million and suffered net losses of EUR 14.18 million.

Last year, the company produced more than one million tons of cement, while the proportion of export was about 70% of the total sales volume. The company also supplied large amounts of concrete to Riga International Airport last year.

According to Gruznins, financial growth can be explained with the company's ability to reduce production costs, improve the manufacturing process and use alternative energy resources.

Cemex has continued improving the company's performance by investing EUR 4.2 million in environment, security and efficiency sectors.

Gruznins said that last year was successful for the company, nevertheless, the company still continues repaying a EUR 290 million loan that was used to invest for construction of the Broceni factory.

The company is operating in more than 50 countries in the world.

300 employees work for Cemex in Latvia, 200 of which are employed at the Cemex factory in Broceni.
