Amount of online purchases increases by 25% - "Swedbank"

Increasingly more people choose to shop online - Swedbank statistics indicate that during the first five months of 2014, the amount of online purchases by Swedbank clients increased by 25 percent as compared to the respective period of 2013, reports LETA.

By providing clients with the option of online purchases, business owners have the opportunity to increase their turnover. The total amount of turnover of Latvian companies that offer online transactions via Swedbank online banking service or with Swedbank cards reached EUR 77.5 million in the first five months of 2014, the bank indicates.


A significant increase in online purchases amount was registered in February and March 2014, which could be explained with the holiday period, for example, Valentine's Day. While the average turnover of online purchases was EUR 14 million in the first five months of 2014, in February and March each it exceeded EUR 15 million. The average number of monthly transactions in the first five months of 2014 ranged between 520,000 and 580,000, while the average value for one purchase was EUR 26.


February and March were the most active months in terms of online shopping, also in regard to the use of Swedbank payment cards. The average number of online transactions with Swedbank cards was 32,000 in the first five months of 2014, while the average transaction amount - EUR 44.
