BC, Tallinn, 15.07.2014.Print version
The Estonian Technical Surveillance Authority issued radio service licenses for one international, 12 national and 16 local radio stations for the following five years, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

A total of 36 radio stations applied for the radio service license for 2014-2019.

A committee of experts chose the successful bidders on the basis of media service law conditions and Culture Ministry evaluation criteria.

The new operating licenses will take effect this November. The majority of nationwide and regional radio service providers that operated before will continue their activities.

In autumn, a new Estonian radio programme Hit FM starts operating in the Harju, Tartu and Pärnu County.

Russian-speaking listeners will have several changes. In Tallinn and Harju County, Russian-language radio programme Novoje Radio will be added. A new humour programme Jumor FM starts operating at the frequency occupied formerly by Euro FM.
