BC, Riga, 07.07.2014.Print version
To mark the third edition of the vForum trade show, which was held at the CNIT (Centre for New Industries and Technologies) on the 6th June 2014 in Paris, GEFCO’s IT system department, supported by Capgemini, was awarded the “Cloud Hybrid Trophy" by VMware in recognition of its innovative cloud computing project, informed BC Dita Bukovska.

This was the result of a 2014 survey carried out among a large number of IT decision makers by Vanson Bourne for VMware, which found that GEFCO was able to implement this IT project in record time. The invention of this unique platform, which is designed for service providers from different business lines, represents a flexible, efficient and powerful outsourcing model.

"GEFCO is aware of just how crucial innovation can be when it comes to conquering new markets. This Trophy for Innovation is recognition of the technological progress that GEFCO has made and of its ability to complete IT projects to tight deadlines", confirms Mr. Philippe Ellec, Production Support and IT Maintenance Manager at the GEFCO Group.

GEFCO Czech Republic transports a presidential bust to the United States Congress

GEFCO has once again demonstrated its expertise in special transport solutions by transporting the bust of Václav Havel (1936-2011), the former Czechoslovakian and Czech Head of State from 1989 to 2003, to Washington D.C, the federal capital of the United States. Václav Havel, who was the first president of the independent Czech Republic, was the embodiment of the 1989 “Velvet Revolution" which brought down the Prague totalitarian regime. The bust of the former president was transported by GEFCO from the Horní Kalná foundry in the north of the country to Prague airport, before being taken to Washington, where it is now on show alongside those of Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King and Winston Churchill within the walls of the United States Congress.

"It’s a great honour for GEFCO to have been entrusted with this highly symbolic transport operation and it is an excellent example of our expertise in providing customised transport solutions", points out Petr Zaoral, Sales Manager for GEFCO Czech Republic.

GEFCO United Kingdom secures a contract with Jaguar Land Rover Limited

GEFCO United Kingdom now provides the motor vehicle manufacturer, Jaguar Land Rover Limited, with a customised packaging solution to optimise its spare parts production process. As part of the service, the GEFCO UK subsidiary provides large plastic “Magnum Optimum" containers, which are used with the state-of-the-art packaging units developed by GEFCO as part of its GefboxSystem solution. This solution means that the quantity of cardboard used in the Jaguar Land Rover Limited supply chain as well as the process’s CO2 emissions can be reduced and return logistics can therefore be optimised. The supply of reusable packaging is controlled by GEFCO’s unique NetBox3 system, which ensures that the management of stocks both for suppliers and Jaguar Land Rover’s production plants can be monitored in real time.

"We’re very grateful for the trust that Jaguar Land Rover Limited has placed in us and which will allow us to continue with the development of our GefBoxSystem solution, which is already used by 1,500 manufacturers in 22 countries around the world", maintains Philippe Doyer, Warehousing and Reusable Packaging Director for GEFCO.
