Smartphone application allows to pay for the public transport in Vilnius

Residents and guests of Vilnius now will be able to pay for the public transports directly with their smartphones. Vilnius City Municipality first one in the Baltic region offers a free smartphone application m.Ticket, informed BC head of public relations division at Vilnius City Municipality Irma Juskenaite.

“It is a convenient alternative to the official Vilnius card.  The application m. Ticket allows purchasing the tickets from a device, it also displays all the schedules and routes to plan the journey. I hope that this gadget will be as popular as m.Parking, which is already used by more than 35,000 people –a number still growing,” said  Mayor Arturas Zuokas.

 

This interactive application allows also evaluate and provide feedbacks on the quality of the service. It is available on all smartphones.

 

“Statistics show that the number of smartphone owners is growing rapidly –especially in Vilnius, so we are confident that the number of users of our application will increase. M.Ticket Vilnius allow users to buy their tickets via electronic banking, just like usual online shopping’” – says project initiator, member of the City Council Indre Jakaitytė.

The major banks are already available for the payment – DNB, SEB, Swedbank, Nordea. In a near future, payments via PayPal will be introduced so that visitors can use the app as well. The application m.Ticket can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
