China interested in Latvian meat and dairy product import

Latvian farmers and food producers are ready to export various dairy and meat products to China, Minister of Agriculture Janis Duklavs (Greens and Farmers' Union) informed the Chinese Minister of State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Zhi Shuping today, cites LETA/Nozare.lv.

"I told Zhi that the producers are ready to provide an export of various dairy and meat products to China. Latvian State Food and Veterinary Service carries out regular inspections to make sure that the dairy and other agricultural products meet the safety requirements and are suitable for the local market and export," Duklavs said.

 

The Chinese minister indicated that China is interested in Latvian dairy and meat products. He said that during the visit, he came to a conclusion that Latvian institutions are capable of monitoring the food production so that the consumer would receive a safe and qualitative product.

 

During the meeting, both ministers signed protocols between the Ministry of Agriculture and Chinese Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, on quarantine and veterinary requirements for mutton and beef exported from Latvia to China.
